Tampa Bay Rays pitcher and Clayton native Chris Archer partnered with Good Sports, an organization that provides athletic equipment to disadvantaged youth, to make a donation of $58,000 to the Wake County Boys and Girls Club.

Archer will delivered the equipment Thursday to the Boys and Girls Club location on North Raleigh Boulevard.

Archer, who attended Clayton High School, notched his first Major League win Sept. 19, 2012 when he gave up three earned runs in five innings against the Boston Red Sox.

Prior to being called up by the Rays, Archer went 7-9 with a 3.66 ERA in 25 starts at Durham this season. His 54 runs allowed were the fewest of any Bulls pitcher with a minimum of 10 starts.
