Durham, N.C. — The Tampa Bay Rays recalled outfielder Wil Myers Wednesday, seven games into his rehab assignment with the Durham Bulls
The High Point native fractured his right wrist May 30 diving for a ball in right field, prompting Tampa Bay to place him on the 60-day disabled list. Myers, who won the American League Rookie of the Year last year, was hitting .277 with five home runs in 53 games before the injury.
In his seven rehab games with the Bulls, Myers posted .250/.419/.542 batting splits with two home runs, six RBIs and three stolen bases.
In a coinciding roster move, Vince Belnome will return to Durham. Belnome appeared in four games, including making his Major League debut, with Tampa Bay after being recalled Saturday. He went 1-for-10 with three walks.
The Bulls are in the middle of a 10-game homestand and take on Norfolk tonight at 7 p.m.
