— For the second consecutive year, North Carolina State’s Carlos Rodon and Trea Trurner were named to the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team. They are two of five players on the 24-man roster that was finalized Sunday that will be making a repeat appearance on the team.

Joining them will be University of North Carolina outfielder Skye Bolt. Bolt played in just 54 games for the Tar Heels during the year, but hit .321 with six home runs and 51 RBI in that time.

UNC pitcher Trent Thornton will stay on to work with the team until July 3 as they finish up their tour of the Coastal Plains League. He was one of three players with that distinction with three more exhibitions remaining, The USA CNT is currently 7-0 against Coastal Plains teams after a 5-2 win over High Point-Thomasville Saturday.

The only other player to make the roster from the ACC was Florida State pitcher Luke Weaver.

Joining Rodon and Turner as returning players are UCLA pitcher David Berg, Oregon outfielder Michael Conforto and Kentucky outfielder Austin Cousino.

International competition is slated to begin July 5 with an exhibition contest against the Matsuyama Industrial League. The 39th edition of the USA-Japan series gets underway July 6 in Matsuyama, Japan. Upon returning to the United States, the CNT will play a pair of exhibition games before opening up a five game series against Cuba on July 18 in Des Moines, Iowa.

Congrats to Rodon, Turner, and Bolt! I guess wolves and rams can play together.

Tremendous honor! Go represent OUR STATE and OUR NATION!

(This is not a State/unc thing) - it's a State of NC thing!

He broke his foot during the year and was out for six weeks, I think. This is a great opportunity for the players; congrats to all who made the team.

"Bolt played in just 54 games for the Tar Heels during the year.."

    Is that all?

Out of curiosity, how did a school that failed to make the 64 team NCAAT field place three pitchers on this roster?
