DURHAM, N.C. — The City of Durham will kick off its 150th anniversary celebration at the Durham Bull's Athletic Park Friday evening.
A brief program begins at about 6:30 p.m., with Mayor Bill Bell welcoming the audience and inviting all citizens to participate in anniversary activities throughout the year.
Bell also will throw out the opening pitch.
During the game, a big 150th birthday cake will be presented and the audience will sing Happy Birthday to the city. The event will end with celebratory fireworks.
Other events are scheduled throughout the year.
