NCCU's Band Takes Field To Represent Florida State

North Carolina State and Florida State hit the field Thursday night in one of Raleigh's biggest games of the year. However, Durham will be represented as North Carolina Central's marching band plays for the Seminoles.

The Florida State marching band isn't making the trip from Tallahassee for the game. So Florida State officials asked the NCCU band to step in and play for their side.

"That makes us feel like we sound good, because we're them," said NCCU baritone player Tim Briscoe,

"Just for a few minutes, we'll be Florida State. We'll be Seminoles," said Jarris McGhee, who plays French horn.

NCCU's band director, Jorim Reid, attended Florida State, and the school's chancellor also went to Florida State, so there is a link.

"These are North Carolina Central uniforms," said Reid. "They just gave us shirts."

The North Carolina Central Marching Sound Machine will play during the tailgate parties and during the game. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
