ABERDEEN, Md. — West Raleigh was three outs away from capturing the championship at the Cal Ripken World Series.
The team got three outs, but not before Mexico rallied with two runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 4-3 victory.
After falling behind 2-1 in the fifth, Raleigh took a 3-2 lead. With the bases loaded, Mexican catcher David Salgueiro threw wildly into the outfield, allowing Michael King and Matt Nusbaum to score.
Felipe Hernandez went 2-for-3 for the Mexican team.
West Raleigh leaves the tournament as national champions.
