CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Elton Brown's 24 points led Virginia to a 77-60 win Wednesday night over pesky Appalachian State.
The teams were tied at 30 at the half, but Brown led the Cavaliers to make eight of their first 14 shots of the second half to take a 48-33 lead with 12:49 to play.
Brown, who also had 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the young season, scored eight of Virginia's 18 points during the decisive spurt.
Virginia pushed the lead to as many as 20 on four occasions in the second half.
Noah Brown paced Appalachian State with 17 points.
