RALEIGH, N.C. — Both UNC and N.C. State hit the road Tuesday and picked up some key ACC wins.

Cedric Simmons scored 17 points on 6-for-6 shooting, Cameron Bennerman scored 14 points and Tony Bethel went 4-for-6 from 3-point range with seven rebounds for N.C. State (13-2, 2-1).
The Wolfpack lost to North Carolina on Saturday to snap a seven-game winning streak. They play four ranked teams in a span of six games, finishing with No. 1 Duke next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, the Tar Heels went to Blacksburg and survived a close game with Virginia Tech

. Freshman Tyler Hansbrough scored 20 points -- four in the final 1:07 -- and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Tar Heels (10-2, 2-0 ACC) to their 18th consecutive victory over the Hokies.
Wyton Witherspoon, making his first start of the season, had 17 points for Virginia Tech (10-6, 0-3), which failed to come up with a rebound after several misses by the Tar Heels in the final minute. Deron Washington's 3-point attempt from the right corner at the buzzer to tie hit the front of the rim.
