DURHAM, N.C. — Durham's offense went silent following back-to-back 13-hit performances, while Louisville smacked 11 hits on Wednesday en route to an 8-0 victory. Five of the Bats hits went for extra bases, including home runs by Rob Stratton and Jesse Gutierrez.
Pitcher Edwin Jackson (1-3) took the loss for the Bulls, allowing six runs over six and a third innings, on eight hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Pitcher Jason Cromer allowed the last two runs in his inning and two-thirds, off two hits and two walks, while striking out three. Pitcher Jose Rodriguez pitched a scoreless ninth inning with a hit and a strikeout.
Pitcher Chris Michalak picked up the win for Louisville, throwing seven innings of shutout ball, on three hits and two strikeouts. RHP Jason Standridge pitched the eighth inning, striking out two, and RHP Scott Chiasson pitched the ninth while striking out two as well.
