RALEIGH, N.C. — We could get some big news from Olympic athlete Marion Jones on Wednesday.
The Olympic medalist and sprinter has called a press conference for 2 p.m. in San Francisco, where she is expected to make a "major announcement," according to her spokespeople.
Jones, a former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill basketball and track star, lives outside Chapel Hill with partner Tim Montgomery.
Jones recently came under fire about performance-enhancing drugs. Montgomery has been told he is under investigation and could be banned from competing in this summer's Olympics.
Jones, who won three gold medals in the Sydney Olympics, recently met with the Anti-Doping Agency to answer questions. She received a letter from the USADA seeking more information after the meeting with USADA lawyers and her attorneys.
Montgomery, the world 100-meters record holder, is one of several U.S. athletes who have received a letter from USADA alleging doping violations after a federal investigation into the BALCO laboratory.
Both Jones and Montgomery have denied any wrongdoing.
