Raiders' Shoop Becomes Tar Heels' Offensive Coordinator
Jan 11, 2007
WRAL has confirmed that Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator John Shoop will be joining the Tar Heels.
Shoop, 36, just completed his second season with the Raiders. Before joining the Raiders, he was the quarterbacks coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004, and the offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears from 2001 to 2003.
Shoop began his NFL career with the Carolina Panthers, serving as offensive quality control assistant from 1995 to 1996.
He will serve as UNC's offensive coordinator under new Tar Heels head coach Butch Davis.

For the record, I am a RAIDER fan... and am glad to see Shoop & Shell gone from the sidelines. I only worry now how much worse that situation will get before it gets better.
wow... did I say I was a NC State fan? For all you know, I might indeed be a Duke fan who simply realizes the Blue Devils place in the scheme of ACC football. Way to jump to conclusions junior!
Guitarzan1001, he had the offense less than half the year, after the OC got the boot. I wonder what type of fan you are NC State, oh wait we beat you in basketball and football the past 3 years. There might be a chance for you next year, but I doubt it. UNC will have a better record than State, Wake and Duke, making you all an embarassment to the state. At least we got a national championship in this decade.
BWAH-HAHAHAHAHAHA-HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
Shoop did AMAZING things for the Raiders this past season, simply AMAZING. With his genius, they might even replace Duke at the bottom of the ACC football food chain.
The heels are coming back into the bowl picture in the next 3-5 years.
