DURHAM, N.C. — Duke basketball forward Shavlik Randolph will be sidelined indefinitely due to a case of mononucleosis.
"Shavlik is a very integral part of our team, and we feel badly for him." Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "We're confident that he will get the rest and treatments that he needs in order to return in good health."
Randolph has averaged 6.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while ranking among the team leaders in blocked shots, steals and assists. The Blue Devils are off to an 8-0 start this season.
The Blue Devils open Atlantic Coast Conference play at home versus Clemson on Jan. 2, 2005.
