RALEIGH, N.C. — Police arrested Jeff O'Neill in Raleigh early Saturday morning for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
O'Neill, who plays right wing for the Carolina Hurricanes, was charged with a DWI and having an open container.
A Raleigh police officer pulled him over for not stopping at a stop sign.
Court papers show the officer noticed a strong odor of alcohol; O'Neill refused to take a breathalizer.
Court records also show O'Neill was charged and found not guilty for a DWI charge in 1998.
The Hurricanes have not played all season because of the NHL lockout.
