It took two overtimes, but Wake Forest finally advanced to the Quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament. The Demon Deacons bounced Georgia Tech 114-112 as Harvey Hale scored 21 of his 22 points in the overtimes, hitting 5 of 6 three point attempts in the process.
Anthony Morrow (20 points) hit a late three in the first overtime to force a second extra session. Morrow almost duplicated the heroics at the end of the second overtime, only to have his shot to force triple OT bounce out at the buzzer.
Wake Forest overcame a career day by fabulous freshman Thaddeus Young, who had 30 points. Classmate Javaris Crittenton finished with 16 points and six assists.
Senior Michael Drum had 17 points on 4-5 shooting from beyond the arc for the Deacons before fouling out.
