Virginia Tech Leaves No Doubt In Rout of Deacons

POST

Virginia Tech left no doubt in this one, beating a tired Wake Forest team 71-52 to advance to the Semifinals of the ACC Tournament. They will next face a hot Wolfpack squad that seems to have become the sentimental favorite in Tampa.

Tech was paced by A.D. Vassallo and his 22 points, and received solid contributions from backcourt tandom Zabian Dowdell and Jamon Gordon, who pitched in 13 and 10 points, respectively.

Wake was playing their second game on Friday, after Thursday night's first round game didn't end until the wee hours of the following morning. The turnaround was too much to overcome for Kyle Visser and the rest of his teammates.

The senior, playing possibly his last game for Wake Forest, scored 22 points on the night, but no other Demon Deacon finished with more than six, as Virginia Tech took a two point game at halftime and turned it into a blowout early in the second half.

Virginia Tech will next play N.C. State at 4pm on Saturday.
