Triangle Teams Hope to Advance in Women's NCAA Tournament
Mar 20, 2007
Raleigh, N.C. — The UNC, Duke and N.C. State women's basketball teams hit the court Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
In Raleigh, Duke will face Temple at 5 p.m. while N.C. State will face Baylor in the game immediately afterward. For the first time, the RBC Center is hosting the first two rounds of the women's tournament.
The Tar Heels are also in action Tuesday as the team faces Notre Dame at 9 p.m. in Pittsburgh.
The national exposure of Triangle teams playing in the RBC Center is expected to provide a financial boost to the area. The Raleigh Convention and Visitors Bureau estimates the two rounds will bring in around $325,000 to the city.

Looks like the ACC women's teams are going to do us proud! Go Heels!
She should have earned that 3 pointer if that was the case, nothing should be given to anyone in sports.
Just like the girl who had a hurt foot, and only need 2 points for a school record and they put her out there at the start of the game and the other team let her score. She limped down to the basket and got her points while the other team just stood there at center court. As soon as she made it, they took her out of the game and let the other team score to make it even.
Sure it is a "nice" thing to do, but you would never catch me being a part of that, on either side.
In the Duke vs Holy Cross womens game the other night, near the end and during a time out, the camera was aimed at Duke's coach talking to her team.
I'm not good at lip reading, but I thought she was saying something like "...let her take a 3 pointer..." because one of the Holy Cross players (a senior) was only 3 points shy of 1000 points in her career.
When play resumed and only seconds on the clock with Duke enjoying a very large lead, the Duke players didn't contest the young ladies 3 pointer and she made her 1000th point, just before her collegiate career came to a close.
That's a Class Act on the part of the Duke team and coaching staff.
Go Devils!!!
