Duke's Josh McRoberts Declares for NBA Draft

Durham, N.C. — Duke forward Josh McRoberts announced Thursday that he has declared himself eligible for the 2007 NBA Draft.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunities that I have had here at Duke,” McRoberts said. “This was a difficult decision, but I feel it is the best one for me and my family at this point in time. I will miss Duke, the coaching staff and my teammates but it has always been goal of mine to play in the NBA.”

"In the past couple of days, I've had the opportunity to meet with Josh and his mother," said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "We had great conversations and we are 100 percent behind his decision. Josh has been a terrific player for us for the past two years and he will be even better in the future as a professional. Based on our information, it is time for him to move on to the next level and we are ready to help him in any and every way during this process."

During his sophomore season, McRoberts was Duke's second-leading scorer, averaging 13 points per game while also leading the team in rebounds (7.9 rpg.), blocks (2.5 bpg.) and field goal percentage (.502 – 164-of-327).

The NBA Draft will be held June 28 in New York City.

I'm so glad the Duke fans won't have to hear McWhiney anymore. I'm even more grateful we Tarheels won't have to hear it!! What an unsuspecting NBA team will have to endure is anyone's guess. My sympathies to the unknowing.....

It's so sad when these good high school players go to Duke and then leave early without accomplishing anything. There must be more problems in that program than meet the eye. Good luck to McRoberts.

Just a prediction. McRoberts will be sitting on the Duke bench in a suit like the rest of the former dookies inside 2 years if that.

why does everybody think that UNC will stink next year, their next five off the bench can beat the starting five of all acc schools, tar heels have nothing to worryabout...
