VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Free-agent defensive back Dexter Reid, a former University of North Carolina football star, was arrested Sunday on gun and drug charges, police said.
Police in Virginia Beach said Reid was stopped on suspicion of drunken driving.
Reid won his second Super Bowl ring in February as a member of the Indianapolis Colts. The team has since released him.
Reid played at UNC from 2000 to 2003. He was chosen in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft by the New England Patriots and was a member of their 2005 Super Bowl championship team.
