Atlanta — University of North Carolina men's basketball coach Roy Williams joined five others Monday in being selected for induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
The others announced by the Hall of Fame are: Phil Jackson, who led the Lakers and Bulls to a record nine NBA titles; four-time WNBA Championship coach Van Chancellor; referee Mendy Rudolph; and international coaches Pedro Ferrandiz and Mirko Novosel.
The selections were announced in Atlanta, site of the 2007 NCAA Men's Final Four championship.
The Hall also selected the 1966 NCAA champion Texas Western team, the first team in NCAA history to win a title with five starting African-American players. Texas Western defeated an all-white Kentucky squad in the championship game.
Inductions will be held in September at the Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
