Mario Williams Apologizes for Internet Speeding Video

Posted April 20, 2007

Former North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams is apologizing for a video that depicts him speeding on Interstate 40 while visiting Raleigh.

The nine-minute video posted on the Internet shows Williams driving his orange Lamborghini, accelerating through traffic. As Williams revs the engine, a woman on the video screams for him to slow down.

Williams tells that Houston Chronicle that "it was a stupid thing to do." He apologized to fans, the organization and his teammates. The Houston Texans drafted Williams Number One overall in the 2006 draft.

Williams says in the video that he was back in Raleigh to see his former team's spring game last weekend.

What's it with these jocks and their overpriced toys? Danny Heatley killed his team-mate from the Thrashers in an accident. And the guy from the Hornets who was killed drag racing a team-mate

I just reported myself for abuse. It was a tasteless thing to say. I didn't mean it like that.

I am sure he is sorry because he got caught, not because of the infraction.

I am all for driving the speed limit and when most people do what Mario did, they are doing something stupid and we've all done it, so get off the soapbox. But your comments about a deserving student make you even more idiotic. Guys like Mario Williams and the rest of the football and basketball teams make the Universities so much money that they can actually give out scholarships to these other "more deserving" students. Now its ok, if u aren't coordinated enough to play sports, but don't pick on Mario. #2, Mario graduated high school early and enrolled in NC State one semester ahead of schedule so I think he's pretty deserving in his own right. You sound like a loser.

Here we have another example of a brain dead athlete who wasted a seat at a good university that could have gone to a deserving student - not to mention the scholarship money that was probably wasted on him too. When will we ever learn that dribbling a basketball or running down a football field are not qualifications to get you into college.

No matter how much money they make, guys like this can't buy intelligence or common sense. They grew up stupid, they are stupid and they will forever be stupid.
