Durham won a marathon over Columbus, finishing a 3-5 road trip with a 9-8 win over the Clippers as Chad Orvella got the final out.
Orvella, the fifth Durham pitcher, got Brent Abernathy to ground out to end the game. It was the only batter Orvella faced.
The game saw 23 hits, 22 walks and 22 left on base. All of Durham's nine runs came with two outs. Shawn Riggans had a three-run homer in a four-run first. Joel Guzman added a two-run shot in the sixth for a 9-5 lead.
Then the Bulls held on for dear life before Orvella closed it out. Tim Corcoran (1-0) pitched three scoreless innings to get the win. Jorge Cantu was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.
The Bulls, now 7-9, head home to take on Toledo on Saturday.
