RALEIGH, N.C. — One man has quite a fish story to tell.
David Bronson was on a fishing trip with family and friends at the Outer Banks to celebrate his birthday. He said he noticed a group of birds gathering and diving in the water.
When Bronson's boat arrived, he and his group began fishing. They picked up two 30-pound fish and a 62-pound striped bass.
The old record for the biggest striped bass was a 60-pound one that was caught on Hatteras Island Surf in 1972.
Bronson said he is in the process of completing the state record paperwork for the Division of Marine Fisheries.
