The Bulls dropped their fourth straight game as Columbus scored early and often to win, 12-6 on Tuesday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
After giving up three runs in the second Bulls starter Mitch Talbot (1-3) pitched a scoreless third, but ran into trouble again in the fourth. Talbot gave up five runs, two of which were unearned off of four hits, a walk, and a fielding error by second baseman Elliot Johnson. Talbot was relieved in the fifth by Tony Peguero, who gave up two hits, two walks, and three runs in two innings of work, including a solo home run to Abraham Nunez off of the Snorting Bull.
Manny Alexander added to the Clippers' lead with a three-run homer off of Bulls reliever Seth McClung.
Clippers starter Tim Redding (2-2) struck out four and allowed five hits, four walks, and three runs (two earned) in 5.1 innings to pick up the win.
The Bulls did not score until the bottom of the fourth when Justin Ruggiano drove home Shawn Riggans with a base hit. After scoring two runs in the sixth, the Bulls added three more in the bottom of the ninth off of reliever Arnie Munoz.
The Bulls and Clippers will conclude their series tomorrow morning in front of a sold out crowd at 11:00 AM
