Raleigh, N.C. — Carolina Hurricanes captain Rod Brind'Amour was named Tuesday as one of three finalists for the 2006-07 Frank J. Selke Trophy, which honors the NHL's top defensive forward.
Anaheim's Samuel Pahlsson and New Jersey's Jay Pandolfo were also named as finalists for the Selke Trophy, which Brind'Amour won last year.
In the 2006-07 season, Brind'Amour ranked second among NHL forwards with a 59.2 faceoff-win percentage and ranked third in ice time, averaging 23 minutes, 19 seconds on the ice per game.
The 36-year-old also led the Hurricanes in shorthanded ice time, helping the team finish sixth in penalty kills. He also finished the season ranked second among all Hurricanes skaters and 24th in the NHL with 82 points, led the team and tied for 14th in the NHL with 56 assists and ranked fifth on the team with 26 goals.
