Durham, N.C. — Yunel Escobar's RBI-single scoring pinch-runner Doug Clark in the top of the ninth inning was the deciding run in the Richmond's Braves 4-3 victory over the Durham Bulls on Saturday night at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
The team's battled for almost three hours following a two-hour, forty-minute rain delay.
Richmond got on the board in the second inning on Graham Koonce's two-run homer in his first at-bat as a Richmond Brave. The Bulls answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame, highlighted by Joel Guzman's two run blast, his fourth of the season.
That put the Bulls up 3-2, but Richmond tied the game in the sixth inning on Carlos Mendez's RBI-double that scored T.J. Bohn.
Right-hander Scott Dohmann (2-1) took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing one run on three hits. Richmond right-hander Ryan Basner picked up the win, pitching 3 2-3 scoreless innings in relief.
The Bulls and Braves meet again Sunday evening at 5 p.m. at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
