(Pawtucket, RI) Durham outfielder Jeremy Owens homered twice, but the Bulls surrendered 18 hits and 10 walks in a 15-6 loss at Pawtucket, the first game of a 12-game road trip.
Pawtucket scored in five of the first six innings, and had the leadoff batter aboard in the first five innings.
After Wes Bankston and Owens homered in the fifth to cut a 5-0 deficit to 5-3, the Pawsox bounced back with three in the fifth off Steve Andrade, who had not allowed a run since April 6th.
Durham countered with two more in the sixth to make it 8-5, but Pawtucket put the game out of reach with six in the sixth, the last four on a grand slam by former Bull Kevin Cash. Cash drove in six runs.
Durham did collect 11 hits, three by Joel Guzman, and two by Elliott Johnson and Owens, who has all three of his homers against Pawtucket. Mitch Tablot (2-5) took the loss. He is winless on the road this season.
Jason Hammel takes the hill at 12:05 on Wednesday as the Bulls look to bounce back.
