CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Bobcats guard and former UNC-Chapel Hill basketball star Raymond Felton was injured in a car wreck Sunday.
Felton was on vacation in Myrtle Beach, S.C., when his car was rear-ended by a driver who was later charged with DUI, Bobcats team officials said Monday.
Felton, who was driving his own car, suffered whiplash-type injuries in the neck and soreness in his back, the Bobcats said in a press release.
Felton will undergo further testing in Charlotte prior to the team's departure for a six-game road trip and his playing status will be determined at that time, the team said.
My friends and I are blessed to escape this accident with only minor injuries and thankfully I was wearing my seat belt, Felton said in the press release. This is another example of how drinking alcohol and driving are a dangerous combination.
