GREENSBORO, N.C. — Jim Clack, a guard on two Super Bowl-winning Pittsburgh Steelers teams in the 1970s, died of heart failure at the age of 58.
According to his wife, Clack died at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro after a four-year battle with neck and throat cancer.
Clack, a 2004 inductee into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame, helped the Steelers win Super Bowls following the 1974 and 1975 seasons. He spent secen seasons in Pittsburgh for seven season before joining the New York Giants in 1978 and playing for four more years.
After his football career, Clack became developed real estate and owned a restaurant in North Carolina. He started a sales training business and worked as a motivational speaker.
Clack also is survived by his wife, Susan, and two stepchildren, Joseph and Lindsay Curtis, both of Wilmington.
