North Carolina sophomore Alex Stepheson will not play in Wednesday's basketball game against Kent State due to a family illness, head coach Roy Williams announced.
"Alex has returned to California due to an illness in his family," Williams said. "We are not certain when he will be able to return. Of course, at this time our thoughts and prayers are with Alex and his family."
Stepheson, a 6-foot-9 forward, has played in all 13 games for the top-ranked and unbeaten Tar Heels. Stepheson, a native of Los Angeles, is averaging 3.5 points and 4.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game.
