In his life as a coach, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski spends much of his time answering questions.

But he also enjoys getting to ask the questions as the weekly host of XM radio’s “Basketball and Beyond.”

Krzyzewski’s guests come not only from sports, but business and the media. On Monday, his guest was sports writer Jim O'Connell of the Associated Press.

“What’s your impression of where newspapers are in this information age?” Krzyzewski asked.

Good question, responded O’Connell, who said he wondered what the media landscape will look like in 10 years.

“We’ve had an amazing list of guests,” Krzyzewski said. “You learn from interviewing them. I take notes throughout. Sometimes I use those notes, whether I’m giving a speech or talking to my team.”

Invariably the conversation turns to changes in basketball. For example, Krzyzewski told O’Connell, “I wish the clock would be a little bit shorter. I’d go for 30 [seconds]. I think the only reason we took 35 is because the women had already had 30. It’s like a guy can’t do [what the women do].”

Krzyzewski started the show in October of 2005 with co-host Dave Sims. He is in no hurry to stop coaching at Duke and become a radio host full-time, but he does enjoy this part-time job.

“I’d like to keep this going for a long time,” Krzyzewski said. “Now, you never know if when you’re through with coaching if somebody wants you to have a radio show, because you don’t have that platform. But I’ve really enjoyed it.”

With upcoming games against Temple and Virginia , Krzyzewski will again be on the receiving end of the questions. Until next week's radio show.
