The Miami Herald has reported, citing unnamed sources, that Duke athletics director Joe Alleva could be a candidate for that position with the Hurricanes, but a Duke spokesman said Alleva has not discussed the position with that school.
“They haven’t contacted him,” said Jon Jackson, Duke’s association athletics director for communication. “I talked to him briefly [Monday]. He thinks well of Miami as a school. But really, he’s ecstatic about being the athletic director at Duke and is not looking to leave.”
Duke announced in August that Alleva had been reappointed after a review of the athletics department. He has been Duke’s athletics director since 1998.
Miami is looking to replace longtime athletics director Paul Dee, who is retiring June 1.
