COLUMBIA, S.C. _ South Carolina's athletics director says basketball coach Dave Odom has told him he will retire after this season, his seventh with the Gamecocks, the AP is reporting.

Odom is the former Wake Forest coach and a native of Goldsboro.

USC (U. of South Carolina) has been around over 200 years.

When was USC (U. of Southern Cal) established? I doubt it was that long ago.

I daresay, USC is the rightful name of the U. of South Carolina!

I didn't know that Dave Odom coached the Southern Cal Trojans. :-)

South Carolina is NOT "USC" nor is it "Carolina."
