UNC Grabs Two Defensive Prospects
Jan 22, 2008
North Carolina, looking to bolster its football recruiting class with signing day approaching in February, has picked up a pair of defensive prospects, InsideCarolina.com is reporting.
The Heels have added commitments from linebacker Zach Brown of Hargrave Military Academy in Chatham, Va., and from cornerback Alphonzo Dennard of Wilcox County, Ga., High.
Brown, 6 feet 1 and 212 pounds, is rated a four-star recruit by Scout.com. Dennard, 5-10 and 184, is rated a three-star recruit.
Carolina has 10 commitments now, five on offense and five on defense. Schools generally sign around 20 players, but many of the top commitments announce late in the process.

Get a load of yourself, facts. The first comment is clearly a Pirate fan saying that recruits should choose ECU over State and Carolina because ECU went to a bowl game. You are trying to save face, and failing.
TBK, I don't need to save face. I'm not trying to justify that my team wasn't as bad as they looked and finished the year.
I don't care about your posts. I'm only referring to the comment you made about State, Carolina and Duke being in the bottom 10 BCS teams. That's all you said about it (... until I called you out on it).
Man, you can't save face on this.
well this is tough for me, because im from greenville but have always been a unc fan as well. skip holtz had a good team this year, but this wasnt his first year with the team. tob and butch davis have picked up some great recruits in their first recruiting season and are doing again in their second. butch davis will get more high profile recruits later in recruiting season, much like he did last year.
"That first comment was in reference to athletes who pick schools based on their name and not if they have a good football program."
There is more to picking a school than how good their football program is. Academics, campus life, coaches, location, cost, etc.
Remember, not all college players go to the NFL, and more than likely they're not getting full scholarships. They split their scholarships most of the time so they can get more quality athletes.
