Jerry Palm of Collegerpi.com will be on 99.9 FM The Fan today in the 4 p.m. hour to look ahead to the NCAA Tournament and where the area teams might fall.

The Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) ranks college basketball teams based in part on the strength of their schedule. It's a factor used by the NCAA Tournament selection committee.

A team's RPI has an impact both on selection and seeding. Seeding is particularly important this year because one subregional is in Raleigh and a regional is in Charlotte. Thus, a Triangle team could reach the Final Four in San Antonio without ever leaving the state of North Carolina.
