"Unscripted": Gravley Says Hansbrough Is Thriving Without Lawson

So here’s an interesting question – is North Carolina center Tyler Hansbrough playing better because Ty Lawson isn’t in the lineup?

WRAL anchor Jeff Gravley believes that may be the case. In this week’s version of “Unscripted,” Gravley argues that Hansbrough’s recent tear is related to Lawson’s being out with a high ankle sprain.

“I think Carolina’s Tyler Hansbrough is better off without Ty Lawson in the lineup. I don’t know if Carolina is,” Gravley said.

IF you look at the numbers, Gravley points out, Hansbrough’s production has spiked up since Lawson was injured Feb. 3. Gravley believe that with Lawson out, the Carolina attack has been more focused on Hansbrough.

If the Heels are going to make the Final Four, Gravley says, “Carolina knows he’s the train that’s going to get him there.”

Meanwhile, fellow anchor Tom Suiter had questions of his own. He wonders if N.C. State is playing as hard as it should. The Wolfpack is coming off a dismal effort at Virginia.

Pretty lively stuff, and you can hear it all on this week’s version of ‘Unscripted."

Tyler just does such a good job at going to the rim, that the only way opposing teams can stop him, is to...foul him. Countless coaches have said that their primary goal was to slow down Tyler Hansbrough. The only way to slow him down is to make him earn it the hard way, at the line. Don't take the easy way out and blame Tyler's success on the officials just because the only way your defense could slow him down was to foul him. btw, I think its pretty ironic that Duke players keep throughing our two home losses at us when they just lost two back-to-back.

Maybe the Duke fans are just jealous because they don't have a big man who can hang with Tyler? The reason he goes to the line so much is because he has players around him who know how to get him the ball and because he knows how to attack the rim! It has nothing to do with bad officiating, blah blah. I'm sick of hearing the Duke fans cry that Carolina always gets the calls. EVERY game is going to have some missed calls and some calls that are made that should not be, but overall the officials in the ACC do a fairly good job. And personally, I don't care if Lawson doesn't come back all year, the Heels seem to be doing fine without his wimp self!

"Onyourheels"-I know it's not life or death, I just like to go back and forth with UNC fans! My whole family is "DOOKIES", so I don't have anyone to argue with. No harm, no foul--right?

j, it's just college b-ball. it's not life or death.

And Psycho will probably get POY because there's no other team I can think of or have watched this year that has a player that scores as much (with opposing big men on the bench), plays as hard of defense (but only gets 1-2 fouls called on him) or goes to the line as much (as much as the entire opposing team). But I hope Psycho will be gracious enough to share his Naismith with the men in stripes.
