Lawson's Status for BC Game Remains in Doubt
Feb 28, 2008
Point guard Ty Lawson’s status for Saturday’s game at Boston College remains uncertain, North Carolina coach Roy Williams said Thursday.
Williams said Lawson went through some light drills Wednesday and would do the same Thursday afternoon. But the drills would be only offensive drills, and not against a defender.
Williams said Carolina will see if Lawson can practice Friday.
“If that goes well, we’ll perhaps try to play him for a few minutes against Boston College. That’s about it,” Williams said.
Lawson has not played since spraining his ankle Feb. 3 at Florida State.
Also, Williams said forward Deon Thompson might not play Saturday. Thompson has been hampered by a hyperextended knee, and Williams said the way he has favored the knee has led to some back problems.
“If he is not considerably better tomorrow than yesterday, I might just hold him out completely,” Williams said.
WRAL.com will post more information from the Williams news conference later this afternoon.

He was dressed to play against Duke and told Coach Williams he still had some pain. Williams seemed to have some doubts then. Players play with some pain all the time. Take a look at Thompson. I like Lawson but I think he is milking this to the end. I hope I am wrong but he needs to get some playing time in before the Duke game and the ACC tournament.
Lawson suck it up and get some playing time. If only an ankle sprian it should not take this long to heal.

i'm guessing you have never played a college sport or any for that matter. I am sure there is a nice wore spot in you oversized couch.
I seriously doubt this is helping his NBA stock.
Although I know it is different, I sure wish it had just been something like Lebron had last night, where he sprained his ankle during the game, got it X-rayed, and came back and dominated later in the game. Ah well.
Actually, it does take this long for an ankle sprain to heal. Especially when you are playing college basketball, which is a whole different level of physical activity. It isn't an injury that he can just "suck up". Besides, in case you haven't realized, the coaches and trainers are the ones saying he isn't better yet and holding him out, not Ty Lawson.
