Durham, N.C. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the NABC Division I All-District teams with DeMarcus Nelson garnering first team recognition and Kyle Singler earning second team honors in District 5.
Nelson has started all 29 games this season for the Blue Devils. He leads the team in scoring (15.5 ppg.), field goals made (153), free throws made and attempted (105-of-173), steals (48) and minutes played (30.9 mpg.). He has reached double figures in scoring in 25 of the 29 games with seven games of 20 or more points. Nelson's numbers have been better in conference play, as he is averaging 17.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game.
Singler has also started all 29 games this year. He leads the team in rebounding (6.1 rpg.) and is second in scoring (14.4 ppg.), field goals (147), three-point field goals (47) and blocks (22). The Oregon-native has recorded four double-doubles on the year. He has reached double figures in scoring in 23 games this year, including the last 11 contests. He also has four 20-point games this season and is averaging 15.5 points and 6.1 rebounds in ACC games.
The 150 players named to the 15 All-District first and second teams will be eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams, which will be announced on April 5 at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.
