Was the 27-point, 14-rebound performance in the opening round of the ACC be the last time J.J. Hickson suits up for N.C. State?
According to Hickson, that situation has yet to be determined.
“I haven’t decided on that,” Hickson said after the Wolfpack’s opening round loss to Miami in the ACC Tournament. “I’m undecided right now.”
Hickson said the main factor for his pending decision would be “basically where I’m at on the draft board and what certain teams need.
“But as of now I’m not sure.”
There are several other post players who might also be in the draft and some figure to be taken early in the first round, including Michael Beasley, Kevin Love, DeAndre Jordan, Roy Hibbert and Brook Lopez.
Lowe, who coached professionally before taking the job at State two years ago, said he would talk with Hickson about the decision, and that Hickson’s welfare would come first.
“That’s something we’ll have to sit down, talk to J.J., talk to his grandmother, talk to his people, and see what’s best for J.J.,” Lowe said.
“My concern is him, No. 1, and then the team second. I told him when I recruited him he would have a great opportunity. Personally, I’d like him to take advantage of his ability and he knows not to sell himself short and that’s something that we’ll talk about and we’ll wish him well.”
