Lawson's Mother Says Family Hasn't Discussed NBA Options Yet
By Dave Nathan Apr 15, 2008
As the deadline approaches for underclassmen to declare for the NBA Draft, three UNC players have yet to make a decision.
Tyler Hansbrough, Wayne Ellington, and Ty Lawson have until April 27 to decide if they want to evaluate their NBA prospects.
Lawson is expected to discuss his future with his parents, George and Jackie, on Thursday when UNC has their annual sports banquet.
“We haven’t talked about it yet,” Jackie Lawson told The Fan Sunday night. “Right now it’s a return to school.”
She added that she expects her son to be enrolled in the first session of summer school, too.
Lawson, Hansbrough, and Ellington met with head coach Roy Williams last week. Williams is in the process of gathering information on the trio from those he trusts in the NBA.
Last year at the banquet, Hansbrough announced he would return for his junior season.

well i heard that both of lawson's parents have cancer. this is from a reliable source. a friend of mine that i went to high school with and currently work with is an assistant football coach at hillside high school and he keeps in contact with greg little. i'm not saying that it is positively true but if it is then his parents have some pretty expensive medical bills.
GetOutandGolf-1)Nobody is absolutely sure of their financial future w/ today's economy, Tyler has to look out for himself & can't necessarily relay on Daddy 2)Does he risk an injury ANOTHER year to try for ANOTHER title? 3)He may LOVE college life, but even he knows that will end soon anyway 4)Most NBA mock drafts have him 15-25 first round and alot of analysts are saying that's as high as he'll ever get, so my take is he'll go & not risk injury or just a bad year. Don't get me wrong, I hope he stays. I've enjoyed watching his this year, wish he played for Duke!!!!
Even more reason for him to stay!
Tyler's girlfriend got into grad school maybe that means he will stay...haha
I think Hansbrough is already one of the best ever at UNC, and if he returns he will be up there with Ford, Jordan, Jamison, Rosenbluth, Worthy, and Perkins. His personal accomplishments already speak for themselves, another possible final four, and a possible National Championship next year would solidify his position as one of the top 5 players ever. I think he will stay because: 1- He doesn't need the money. 2- He still has something to prove (National Championship). 3- He LOVES college life. 4- His prospects can only go up (Lots of really good players going Pro this year)
