North Carolina has signed Justin Watts, a senior basketball prospect from Durham's Jordan High School.

The signing comes right as three Tar Heels – Wayne Ellington, Danny Green and Ty Lawson – are evaluating a jump to the NBA. Those three Tar Heels may be included in an NBA pre-draft camp next week in Orlando, Fla. Those rosters have not yet been announced.

Ellington and Green, like Watts, are wing players.

Jordan coach Kim Annas said Carolina had been evaluating Watts all season and offered him a scholarship on Monday.

Watts will discuss his decision Thursday at a news conference at the school.

Watts, 6 feet 5 and 200 pounds, averaged 24.4 points and 8.7 rebounds for Jordan (14-10)  this past season.

“He’s just a very good basketball player,” Annas said Wednesday. “He can score, shoot, play defense, dribble.”

Annas said Watts was widely recruited by major schools, including Michigan, Penn State and South Carolina, but wanted to take his time before making a final decision, his coach said.

He becomes the fourth player in Carolina's incoming class. The Tar Heels have signed power forward Ed Davis, center Tyler Zeller and point guard Larry Drew. Both Rivals and Scout have Watts rated as a three-star recruit.

Niether Ellington or Green will be selected in the 2nd round. All the second gets you is a trip overseas.

"19 - the entire 1st round is guaranteed contracts. That's why some of the athletes projected to go late first round end up withdrawing because of the risk of missing the cut and being taken in the 2nd."

So maybe there is still hope Lawson will stay. I doubt it though. I think that's why he waited so long to come back after his injury. He was more concerned about being "ready" for the NBA.

you guys are getting along, am i in the right place? haha

"now we did blow the miami game. i think that was the one game all season that we beat ourselves"

Your Miami game was our Maryland game.
