Wake Forest-Rolesville product has dream day at Rex Open

WRAL's Josh Hailey spent a balmy Friday at the second round of the Nationwide Tour's Rex Hospital Open, where he caught up with Wake Forest-Rolesville senior golfer Jordan Walor.

Walor earned a spot in the field thanks to a special tournament that featured the top 60 high-school players in the area (boys and girls). He fulfilled a lifelong dream by winning the qualifying event and making his first pro event.

Walor shot a respectable 77 his first round, and followed it up by improving a stroke with a 76 in the second round. He had some jitters, but they were gone after the first couple of holes. Walor said it was a special two days not only because he was playing with the pros, but because so many friends and family could be there to see it.

His father was his caddie this week and they wanted to keep right on playing, but Jordan missed the cut by 11 shots. You wouldn't know it by the giant smile he wore on his face striding the fairways. He calmly made a tough 4-footer for par on the last hole and his dream was over ... for now. Jordan is taking his game to UNC-Pembroke in the fall, where he has hopes of winning a national championship. He hopes we see him here again in a few years.
