RALEIGH, NC - The Carolina Hurricanes announced the schedule and roster for the team's 2008 training camp on Thursday afternoon. A total of 59 players are slated to attend this year’s training camp, which will be based in Raleigh.
The Hurricanes will open training camp with player physicals on Sept. 19, and then hit the ice for their first official practices at the RBC Center on Saturday, Sept. 20, beginning at 8 a.m.
The following day, Sunday, Sept. 21, the team will host its annual Caniac Carnival at the RBC Center, its season kick-off event which includes rides, interactive games, a designated sports zone, a TNT Freestyle Motocross show, live music and an autograph session with select Hurricanes players and is capped by the Hurricanes’ Red/White scrimmage.
The Carnival will also mark the first opportunity for fans to purchase the Hurricanes new alternate jersey, which will be revealed at a news conference on Sept. 10.
The Hurricanes open their six-game exhibition schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 24, when they host the Washington Capitals at the RBC Center at 7 p.m. Training camp concludes with a team practice on Thursday, Oct. 9 at the RBC Center, before the Canes open their 2008-09 season on Oct. 10, when they host the Florida Panthers at the RBC Center at 7 p.m.
All training camp practices are open to the general public.
