Russell Wilson added to Pro Bowl roster

Russell Wilson was added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster Monday following Sunday’s injury to Matt Ryan.
Wilson joins Drew Brees and Eli Manning in Hawaii at the quarterback position for the NFC. Brees and Manning are also replacement participants, filling in for Aaron Rodgers and Robert Griffin III.
Ryan separated his non-throwing shoulder late in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Reports suggest that it will not require surgery, but he will not participate in the Pro Bowl.
Wilson becomes the first former North Carolina State player to make the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. After finishing his collegiate career at Wisconsin, Wilson put up top-tier numbers in his first professional campaign.
Wilson threw for 3,118 yards and 26 touchdowns against only 10 interceptions. He also ran for 489 yards and four touchdowns, guiding the Seattle Seahawks to the playoffs.
Wilson becomes the sixth Seahawks player named to the Pro Bowl joining Marshawn Lynch, Russell Okung, Earl Thomas, Max Unger and Leon Washinton.
San Francisco’s NFL-leading nine selections and Baltimore’s six will not play in the Prow Bowl as they prepare for the Super Bowl on Feb. 3.
The Pro Bowl will be played Sunday in Honolulu.
