Russell Wilson added to Pro Bowl roster

Posted January 21, 2013

Russell Wilson was added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster Monday following Sunday’s injury to Matt Ryan.

Wilson joins Drew Brees and Eli Manning in Hawaii at the quarterback position for the NFC. Brees and Manning are also replacement participants, filling in for Aaron Rodgers and Robert Griffin III.

Ryan separated his non-throwing shoulder late in the NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers. Reports suggest that it will not require surgery, but he will not participate in the Pro Bowl.

Wilson becomes the first former North Carolina State player to make the Pro Bowl in his rookie season. After finishing his collegiate career at Wisconsin, Wilson put up top-tier numbers in his first professional campaign.

Wilson threw for 3,118 yards and 26 touchdowns against only 10 interceptions. He also ran for 489 yards and four touchdowns, guiding the Seattle Seahawks to the playoffs.

Wilson becomes the sixth Seahawks player named to the Pro Bowl joining Marshawn Lynch, Russell Okung, Earl Thomas, Max Unger and Leon Washinton.

San Francisco’s NFL-leading nine selections and Baltimore’s six will not play in the Prow Bowl as they prepare for the Super Bowl on Feb. 3.

The Pro Bowl will be played Sunday in Honolulu.

Yup, that would be me. My personality is rather badgerlike also, it isn't obvious on an internet message board.

Add me to the list of Heels fans who are also RW fans. The guy was a class act from Day 1. I hated to see the Heels lose to him, but I always had and will always have a ton of respect for Wilson. College and Pro sports need more men like RW. High School and College QBs who are less than six feet tall are smiling - RW proved it's not how tall you are, it's how tall you play.

I can't blame you 24. Like I said before, if I were a UNC fan, I would try to forget the 3 consecutive beat downs he put on you as a NC State QB. I would just focus on the one year he spent at Wisky. What's the new UNC motto, "To seem, rather than to be."

What was the name of the starting NCSU QB who beat UNC in 2008, 2009, and 2010?
