Hampton, Va. — Shaw University's James Stallons and Micguel Johnson were named CIAA Quarterback and CIAA Cornerback of the Week, respectively.
Stallons (QB, 6-6, 210, Sr., Macomb, MI) continued rewriting the Shaw passing record book in the Bears' game against Saint Augustine's on Saturday. He set a single-game record with six passes for touchdowns. His 27 for 54 performance led to this second straight 412 yard game and his third 400-plus yard game this season. His 84-yard touchdown pass to Ta'Juan Brown broke the record for longest pass completion at Shaw. Big 4th quarter lifts St. Aug to 43-42 win over Shaw on homecoming
Stallons finishes the season with 3,101 yards, breaking the Shaw record by nearly 1,000 yards. He leads the conference in passing yards per game with 310.1 yards per game average.
He finishes his one-year career holding the Shaw single season records in pass attempts, pass completions, yards passing, and touchdowns passing. He owns the single game records for pass attempts, yards passing, touchdown passes and longest pass.
Johnson (CB, SR, 5-11, 185, Gainesville, Fla.) finished his career with three interceptions in Shaw's loss to Saint Augustine's on Saturday. Johnson, a late-season addition to the squad, also had a solo tackle against the Falcons.
The Bears closed out their season with a last-second 43-42 loss to their cross-town rival. They finished the season 4-6, 3-4 in the CIAA.
