UNC's basketball team was gone from the Triangle by the time snow covered the area's roadways Tuesday night, but the Tar Heels didn't completely escape weather-related issues ahead of their Wednesday meeting with Georgia Tech.

Due to the snowy conditions, ESPN has cancelled their broadcast of the UNC, Georgia Tech game at 7 p.m. Fans can follow a live blog at to keep up with the action when they tip Wednesday night.

After arriving at Atlanta's Hartsfield International Airport Tuesday, the basketball team was stranded for several hours because of gridlock on Atlanta-area roadways.

Senior point guard Leslie McDonald posted a photo on Instagram to express frustration over being "stuck" at the airport, and other players and coaches weighed in on Twitter to detail what ended up being a wild night for the Heels.

Wednesday's 7 p.m. matchup with Georgia Tech has not been postponed although it's unclear if any fans will be able to make it to the arena since they may still be stuck on Atlanta's highways.

That's what I was thinking - I mean it's ATLANTA, not exactly the sticks.

MARTA was the only game in town last night and there were extremely long lines waiting to get on.

Somebody local should pick up the broadcast!

Glad everyone got there safely. GO HEELS!

If UNC brings the same intensity that they had against Clemson, they should win this game.

Why did it take them "several hours" to figure out how to get to their hotel?because those marta ticket machines are too complicated for 3rd graders...

There's a subway station in the airport, and GT and every hotel in the downtown area are only a few blocks away from other subway stations. Why did it take them "several hours" to figure out how to get to their hotel?

Maybe we all can stay up and watch ACC basketball tonight without having to get up at 4:30 am for work. How I love the snow.

Laugh if you want, but that's the first thing I thought of, not that the GT fans are all that much of a factor, but it should be less of a home court advantage for GT.
