MLS Game Summary - Chivas USA at New England

(Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012)

From The Sports Network

Final Score: Chivas USA 3, New England 3

Foxborough, MA (Sports Network) - Chivas USA stormed back to overturn a three- goal deficit on Wednesday, taking a well-earned road point away from Gillette Stadium in a 3-3 draw with the New England Revolution.

The home side jumped out to a convincing lead within the opening 21 minutes with Saer Sene scoring twice and an own goal from Rauwshan McKenzie doing the damage.

But Shalrie Joseph helped turn the tide in Chivas' favor, bagging a brace against his former club before Miller Bolanos produced the equalizer in the 47th minute.

While the draw will serve as a big moral victory for the Goats, the result does not do either side many favors as they are both on the outskirts of their respective playoff hunts - Chivas (7-10-7) sits third from bottom in the Western Conference with 28 points while New England (6-14-6) remains second from bottom in the East with 24 points.

Sene gave the Revs an early lead when he smashed a bouncing ball past Dan Kennedy in the third minute.

That lead was doubled eight minutes later when McKenzie turned a cross into his own net from close range.

Sene completed his brace in the 21st minute with a swerving shot from distance that caught Kennedy off-guard.

The Revs looked well on their way to claiming all three points in convincing fashion, but Joseph struck twice before the close of the first half to bring the visiting Goats to within one.

Chivas ultimately pulled level as Bolanos capitalized on some slack New England defending less than two minutes after the break, slotting home Casey Townsend's header with a volley from close range.

With six goals flying in over the course of the first 47 minutes, it seemed as if there would be a late winner for either side, but the match fizzled to a close with both clubs leaving a point.
