TFC welcomes 'Quakes to BMO Field

Toronto, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Toronto FC will aim to extend its unbeaten streak in league play to four matches on Saturday when the club welcomes the San Jose Earthquakes to BMO Field.

Toronto earned three points in dramatic fashion last time out, rallying from a second-half deficit to claim a 3-2 victory over the Columbus Crew at Crew Stadium.

TFC fell behind after just 18 minutes when Justin Meram picked up a pass at the edge of the box on a quick Crew counter attack and curled a shot past TFC goalkeeper Joe Bendik into the top corner for a 1-0 lead.

But just minutes later the sides were back on level terms after Jackson found Jermain Defoe, who was pulled down in the penalty area for a spot kick. Defoe stepped up to the spot and struck his finish into the bottom left corner past Crew goalkeeper Steve Clark.

The Crew regained the lead again in the 65th minute when Agustin Viana rose highest on a corner kick and nodded it home, but Toronto responded with another equalizer nine minutes from time through Defoe.

The winner came in stoppage time as Dan Lovitz swung in a free kick from the right flank and Doneil Henry sent a glancing header inside the far post.

"Even though we didn't play that well we stayed in the game we keep trying," said TFC manager Ryan Nelsen. "We kept trying, the boys kept going, they never back out. It's a funny game."

San Jose, meanwhile, is coming off a second straight victory following a 2-1 result over FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium.

FC Dallas opened the scoring in the 16th minute when Blas Perez fired home a volley from inside the penalty to give the hosts the lead.

But the Earthquakes drew level in the 27th minute when a corner kick sailed into the box and Steven Lenhart appeared to knock it down with his arm, but the ball fell for Atiba Harris to drive into the goal and it stood for the equalizer.

The Quakes then hit for the game winner in the 45th minute when midfielder Jean Baptiste Pierazzi took advantage of space in the midfield to hit a wonder-strike from 35 yards out that sailed past Dallas goalkeeper Chris Seitz into the top of the goal.

"It's hard to win games on the road in this league," said Earthquakes head coach Mark Watson. "I just think it'll be a big boost for our confidence, especially the way it happened."
