FCD hopes to break slump against Chivas

Frisco, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - FC Dallas will attempt to snap a four-game losing skid against Chivas USA at Toyota Stadium on Saturday, and is hoping that some improved luck will help them accomplish that goal.

Oscar Pareja's team has lost three straight one-goal games, and maybe the most frustrating of them occurred last time out in a 2-1 defeat at San Jose.

Dallas fell behind in the 25th minute to a goal from Cordell Cato, but received a boost when the Earthquakes were reduced to 10 men on the stroke of halftime due to a red card for Shea Salinas.

FCD dominated the final 45 minutes, but a David Texeira own goal in the 73rd handed San Jose a 2-0 lead before Michel pulled a goal back in the 76th for Dallas.

However, the Hoops were unable to find a second goal, leaving plenty of frustration in the FCD dressing room.

"It's obviously frustrating because we feel like we did well in those three matches and even against New York with 10 men we did well," said midfielder Victor Ulloa of his team's recent struggles. "It's frustrating because we know we deserved more, but that's the game and sometimes you deserve it and don't get it. We just need to stick together and keep going together in one direction."

Chivas is a team that knows a thing or two about struggling, but the Goats are coming into Saturday's fixture having snapped an eight-game winless run with a 3-1 victory at Colorado last weekend.

Following a 0-0 first half in snowy conditions at Dick's Sporting Goods Park, Chivas netted three goals in the span of 20 minutes with the first coming from Erick Torres before Marvin Chavez came off the bench to score twice in his Rapids debut.

Colorado's Deshorn Brown scored in the dying minutes to prevent Chivas from keeping its first clean sheet of the season, but the win was a big step for Chivas as the club continues to come together.

"The most important thing is just staying together," said Chivas midfielder Eric Avila. "We accomplished that on the away trip and we figured out ways where we do need to punish [opponents], we need to go forward. Coming into this game versus Dallas I think it's a main key for us to stay together."
