MLS Game Summary - New England at Chicago

(Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013)

From The Sports Network

Final Score: Chicago 3, New England 2

Bridgeview, IL (Sports Network) - Alex picked a good time to score his first goal of the season as he netted the winning goal in the 86th minute to lift the Chicago Fire to a 3-2 comeback win over the New England Revolution at Toyota Park.

Kelyn Rowe scored on a deflected effort after nine minutes to put New England in front, but the Fire equalized on the half-hour mark through Juan Luis Anangono, who notched his first goal for the club after being played into the box by Joel Lindpere.

Anangono had a header cleared off the goal line by Revs defender Scott Caldwell, and Saer Sene put the visitors in front on the stroke of halftime after some good work from Dimitry Imbongo.

Mike Magee leveled the match once more in the 55th for the Fire after latching on to a pass from Patrick Nyarko, while Fire goalkeeper Sean Johnson kept the match even with a fine reaction save to deny Chad Barrett's header seven minutes from time.

And the save proved to be important as Alex notched the winning goal a few minutes later with a powerful shot from 20 yards that beat goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth at his near post.

The Fire won for the first time in four games and jumped over New England, moving to within one point of a playoff spot.
