Chester, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Union snapped Toronto FC's five-game unbeaten run in comfortable fashion, easing past the Canadian club in a 3-0 win at PPL Park on Sunday.

Toronto entered the match having taken seven points from its last five matches, but Philadelphia handed the visitors their first lost over that stretch, producing two goals in as many first-half minutes thanks to Gabriel Gomez and Freddy Adu. Antoine Hoppenot put an exclamation point at the end of the result by adding a third goal 12 minutes from time.

With three wins from their last four matches, the Union (5-9-2) have improved to 17 points on the year as they look to turn their season around and make a late push for a playoff berth.

TFC (2-11-4) remains bottom of the Eastern Conference on 10 points.

Philadelphia dominated the early running and finally managed to turn its possession into a lead in the 34th minute.

Jack McInerney found space on the right flank and played a cross into the box. The delivery was slightly behind Gomez, but the Union midfielder adjusted well and fired a shot that needed a deflection to get past TFC goalkeeper Milos Kocic.

Two minutes later, Philadelphia doubled its advantage when Gabriel Farfan slipped a through ball into Adu's path on the left side of the box. The Union youngster put his shot past Kocic from a tough angle for his second goal of the campaign.

The Union continued to dictate play and ultimately grabbed a third goal for their efforts as Hoppenot latched on to a through ball from Michael Farfan and slammed a powerful shot across Kocic and into the back of the net.

Philadelphia saw out the remaining 12 minutes to avenge a 1-0 loss to Toronto at BMO Field on May 26, the Canadian club's first win of the season.

Toronto takes the pitch again on Wednesday as it hosts Vancouver Whitecaps FC while Philadelphia welcomes the Montreal Impact to PPL Park on July 14.
